I had a parakeet in college. When I say "I" what I mean is that my then fiance and now ex wife pestered the ever loving s*** out of me until we finally went out and bought one. It was all kinds of unnatural florescent colors and whistled and chirped every morning at 2:30 like it was trained to ruin my life by a Swiss watch maker.

We left the cage door open all the time and it would fly around the room chirping. My then fiance and now ex wife thought it was cute. I wanted to buy a tennis racket and see how far I could get the damn thing to go.

I never admitted this to her, and probably won't because she's vindictive, but I once left the back door open "accidentally" on purpose. We never saw the f***ing thing again.
