After reading this story, and hearing repeated stories in the news regarding this story, how does everyone feel about people that own animals such as this? Should people be allowed to have wild animals as pets? When i say wild animals, i'm meaning Chimpanzees, Lions, Tigers, Bears...

No, if it's for conservation then it's slightly more acceptable but wild animals belong in the wild. Animals like Lions can be unpredictable and therefore dangerous, plus taking it out of its natural environment seems a bit cruel to me.

Yes I think they can be kept as pets. I don't think I ever would, but if someone is willing to have one then they must take responsibility. And the potential consequences. But something like this doesn't always happen. I don't think it's a big deal.

Absolutely not!

Or if we can't ban it make them look after themselves when they get mauled. Either by refusing NHS treatment in the UK or having a clause that they're not covered for 'pet injuries' in their medical insurance in the US. I have no sympathy for idiots.

I think the reason the chimp died was because it was taken from it's natural home.and if it wasn't it wouldnt have happened,
No we cant do that to these animals in as a cat and dog.

I'm thinking unless your an animal trainer/rehabilitater or a zoo, you shouldn't be allowed to have these dangerous animals.

People freak out about Pit Bulls, try having a neighbor with a freaking Lion.

I don't know. I think in some cases having them as pets might be okay, but in most, no, not at all.

wild animals should remain just that, wild, and more need to be done to protect their natural habitats,

wild animals should not be domesticated or exploited in any way.

You don't think it's a big deal that the victim's face was torn to shreds and her hands chewed off? If she survives she will live with horrible deformities and never ending pain. You don't think that is a big deal? Perhaps you are a Chimpanzee yourself? bybee

YES! The reason being they always end up getting hurt or killed in the end and it's not fair to the animal.

They shouldn't have to pay any price for a humans false ideas that they can have whatever they want as pets and take them out of their habitats for their own pleasures just to have the animal pay the ultimate price in the end for being animals..
