Those two parties get the vast majority of the votes therefore the media will give them the vast majority of coverage.

That's a good point......but I think if the political parties would just STOP fighting each other and do the job their paid to do.....then maybe they could better serve the American citizens like they are elected to do!

It's because every election is a winner-take-all system. It's naturally polarizing.

Unless you fundamentally change the entire makeup of the government, we will pretty much have a 2-party system forever, with brief periods punctuated by a rapidly-rising third party that displaces one of the major 2 back to a 2-party system.

We gotta keep up the two or three party system. Otherwise, I would have to burn all my anti-democrat and liberal Tee shirts.

Parties, the way they are ran, funded, and dealt with in Washington, should be done away with.

Why? And replaced with what?

The parties themselves are essentially groups of organized citizens. They are self-funding and self-regulating.

You can't stay neutral in politics. You have to choose a side. That's the way it works.

You say it like "liberals" and "democrats" are bad or something!

Hey, is the middle considered "a side!" That's about where I land...

Yes it is.. Even being in the middle, you had to choose one candidate or the other. Perhaps one candidate was a little left of your views and the other was a little to the right.. Once you've chosen, you've decided that you would prefer the country to move to the left or move to the right.

Most people are in the middle, and nobody likes everything that a presidential candidate says.. you have to pick the one that you prefer more, and go with the one who wants to do the things you think should be done, even if they say they'll take them farther than you might like.

The alternative would be to go with someone who wants to take the country in a direction you don't agree with at all.
