School shootings come from a lack of respect for life.
40 years ago we had everything they have today except one thing.
Video games where you murder without feeling.

Opinions please?

Oh, we're back to the "Video Game" excuse ...
Movies and TV shows are also more violent and realistic than they were 40 years ago.
So is the News.
There was no Internet or Smartphones either, 40 years ago. That gives kids access to all the violent video games, movies, and videos whenever, where ever they want.

Maybe it's the parents that aren't raising them right - or at all.
We should require a license for parenting.

If we can't stop all of them,
why stop any of them!

in 80's or 90's, that pta ( if I remember right, was an articles about video games.) brought up the correlation that kids and young adults playing video games as much watching tv.

kids were addicted to the video games for entertainment, enjoying the violent that game offer them. young adults could not stopped playing a violent video games for days without sleep, stopped eating.

back then, really little proof that kids and young adults went to committed violent crimes, because they played it on video game.

kids and young adults with their parents always will have communication problems. I don't think the relationship with a parent with a child is always that blame for a child use violent from a video game into real life.

there is or might be chemical unbalance from the child from a video game or something that should address by the parents, that wasn't.

According to the Congressional Research Service, there are roughly twice as many guns per capita in the United States as there were in 1968: more than 300 million guns in all.

https://www.npr.org/2016/01/05/462017461/guns-in-america-by-the-numbers

There's a nice graph there too of guns manufactured in the US, but it won't link
About 3m in '86 to almost 13m in '13

AVAILABILITY (to the wrong people)

... I'm not against gun ownership. I'm against the wrong people owning guns.

In Chicago guns are illegal.
In Chicago only criminals have guns.
Chicago has a huge murder problem.

In Switzerland most homes have a FULL auto rifle.
Low murder rate.

In the USA.
IF you take away the top murder cities,
We find the USA is a very safe place.

Do the Swiss have violent video games and access to the internet?

A quick snippet from Wiki:
"In order to purchase most weapons, the purchaser must obtain a weapon acquisition permit (art. 8 WG/LArm). Swiss citizens and foreigners with a C permit over the age of 18 who are not psychiatrically disqualified nor identified as posing security problems, and who have a clean criminal record can request such a permit. Foreigners with the following citizenship are explicitly excluded from the right to possess weapons: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Algeria and Albania"

In the US, all you need is a handful of cash and a gun show.

The Wiki also notes that members of the Swiss Army keep their service rifles at home.

As for households versus "per capita" (I haven't seen a "most households" statistic), the Swiss are estimated at about 1/4 the Per capita rate for the US -at about 24%. That would put the US gun population at enough for every man, woman and child in the US.

Edit Again:
The Swiss also have conscription, so most of their population are (probably) trained in handling (and respecting) firearms (and life)

Their is an easy fix to the gun problems in the USA.

1. In order to go to school in the USA you must take and pass the 10 minute mental health exam that Trump took (which proved he is a "stable genius" ).

2. In order to buy a firearm in the USA you must take and pass the 10 minute mental health exam that Trump took (which proved he is a "stable genius" ).

As long as the test results go into a national database that is synced up with other state and military databases regarding gun possession - mental health, felonies, known/registered inventory....
And they should be retested every ... 3-5 years.

5 months
3 mass shootings
103 dead

... priceless

So lets continue to throw up the statistics and reasonings and excuses to continue to do nothing.

Will we see a triple digit toll this year?
