Television artist Rolf Harris has unveiled his portrait of the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

"impressionistic" image

The portrait was commissioned to mark the Queen's 80th birthday next year.

"Rolf Harris wanted to capture the lady as she is with all her humour and reality"

I think he has captured the Queen, down to a Fine Art!

What do you think of Rolfs new painting?

I totally agree with you. I had the pleasure of meeting Rolf at the Royal College of Art and doing some work with him. Not only is he a superb and lively artist, he is also a Great Person to get along with.

I am fascinated at how when the Royals turn up at Australia, who turns up? Really!

Yet the American's are mad for them. Got me buggered!!!

when you see how he was painting her, its pretty good, lol. It is good to see the queen with a smile, I mean, most portraits depict the queen with no expression.

Her eyes look angry but a nice cheesy smile? huh? lol

Good on you Rolf. I'm an Australian, and I am an Australian republic supporter,
which would see the Queen not the head of state at some future point. Having
said that Her Majesty is the head of state now. Plenty of republicans who want
the change also respect Her Majesty.

I like the portrait..... After hundreds of stiff official protraits, I think Rolf was an
excellent choice to paint this one, and I think he did an excellent job.
