Retreat?

I'm looking at the BBC news reports of the British Army tactical withdrawal from the Basra. There's a lot of talk that this was "planned for ages" and wasn't a retreat but starting moving out in the dead of night and taking 16 hours to do it looks like a retreat in my book.

Oh I agree. They should never have gone in but what a song and dance about getting out.

Your book is out of print. Brits would be wise to move all their troops out of Iraq.

And don't forget those who will have to carry their injuries of this war for the rest of their lives.

Are they withdrawing because they are getting the crap beat out of them or are they withdrawing because they have somewhere else to go?

They are getting out because there will be a General Election in Britain shortly.
