Try rebooting after you apply the registry patch.

If that doesn't work, go through Microsoft's more complicated steps:

All the years I have had a computer and never did it before, this time with the new vista I am all excited about the stupid recycling bin because it shows you the paper and then it shows it empty once nothing is it (yes I know I get amused easily) but anyways I meant to delete whatever was in it and instead deleted the bin.. everyone I asked didn't know how to get it back and I haven't been bothered to look but now it's bugging me. So power to the thread.. anyone else have done this and knew where to find it?

Oh right I forgot you had Vista!! Don't do any of that s*** I linked to.

Right click on the desktop and click personalize. Then in the left pane under tasks click choose desktop icons.

1. Right click on Desktop and select Personalization.

2. In the left pane of Personalization window, under the Tasks section, click on Change desktop icons link.

3. In the Desktop Icons Settings window, check the box next to Recycle Bin to show the icon on the desktop.

4. Click OK.
