Reading books online.

Is there a place to read books online for free?
Or is that illegal?

Depends on the book. There are certain places where books are available free online which is perfectly legal. Just google the title. Or if you have access to things like Jstor there is plenty.

There are loads of sites on the internet. Just stick read online books for free in google and take your pick.

You can also download the free kindle app from amazon to your PC. I have it and there are lots and lots of free books.

Use your wits! You can do that anywhere that you can find a computer with an internet connection....

If you use Google to get a digital copy of the book, odds are it'll be illegal.

Nor me, that's why I'm unsure as to whether I would want a kindle.

I use my kindle PC app often enough to make me want a kindle. But I would use it for the bus and I get motion sickness reading so I'm not going to bother for now

There are legal and illegal ways to access books via the internet.

I hate reading long passages on the computer even if I find it interesting so I doubt I could read a book on one.

Only from illegal sites. I have a ton of free books on my amazon pc app.

This website has loads of old books online that are no longer bound by copyright, so it's legal to read them. You can't download them though, but it's a great little site.
