Nigga [Nigg] is more slang for like, Homie.
Or friend...

I wouldn't say that infront of people who would get offended by that though.
Saying that word and all of it's forms is a touchy subject.

Even the director of Training Day acknowledges that the N word is an accepted street term. It's the same as homie.

Ohh, well if the director of Training day says it's OK... it must be.

I've never heard of the film, and I've never heard anyone I've met call someone a nigger (or nigga) I don't see the difference. As far as I can see, making a word like that into a word that means friend is allowing other people to use it too. But I guarantee if an unknown white person said "hey, nigga" It would be called racist. In the British Big Brother house a girl got kicked out for saying that word even though she used it in a "homie" way rather than a racist way... I don't think a word that is only in the language because it was used as a derogatory word for slaves should be an accepted part of our language now.

I've always saw the n word as just another hate label.

Hate label for non-blacks, but another stereotypical name. Ever notice the blacks who call each other that are street and a stereotype. And probably some of them do hate each other.

Training Day with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, directed by Antoine Faqua. Denzel won an Oscar for best male actor.

The difference is the manner, pitch, and context you use it. Sorry, I didn't realize you were from the UK. Here, in the States where the superior people live (just kidding), use it all the time in rap music and street lingo.

Funnily enough I live in a world where American rap culture does spread across the pond. And so I have heard the word used - what I specifically said was that I'd never heard a person I've actually met use it. I've heard it on TV, films, music and the media, obviously - if I hadn't I'd probably live a very sheltered life and I probably wouldn't be on this forum right now.

I see it as a word that can easily offend, but I think it does really depend on the person you say it to and their way of thinking.
I personally wouldnt use the word or say it to anyone, I love people of all religions people may be a different colour but we all have the same colour blood.
I think if you were to call me a N***er I would be OK with it, but if you called my mixed race friend Emma it I would flip oops
