President George Bush... a quote about drug use....

Bush explained his refusal to answer questions about whether he had used marijuana at some time in his past.

?I wouldn?t answer the marijuana questions,? Bush says. ?You know why? Because I don?t want some little kid doing what I tried.?

It's worth noting that quote was from a conversation Bush had with an author that said author secretly taped and then released.

I think he was saying that yes, he has tried marijuana, but he doesn't think kids should know that the President has tried drugs. I don't think this was a slip-up.. I think Bush probably didn't expect the line to get "leaked."

He also wasn't President at the time he said it. It was during his campaign. A little further reading revealed to me that it was a phone conversation Bush was having with a friend, who taped the conversations and then later sent them out.
