Somewhat inspired by Treebee's thread, but also something I've noticed for a while now.

Different countries seem to be alot more left/right wing than others.

For example, Scotland is very left, traditionally it always has bee, and at the moment it still is.

England is more right-wing than Scotland, but not too right wing as far as countries go.

America seems really right wing, even the main party to the left is more right wing than the UK's right wing party.

Anyone else noticed this? Anyone else have any idea as to why?

I think the only thing i really notice in American politics is the use of religion. Whereas here the religious backed parties barely get a seat.

Countries that like freedom are right wing.

Countries that are a big nanny state are left.

Sure. If it wasn't for the "lefties", democracy would never have come in anywhere in the world.

I'm gonna quote Churchill. "Democracy is a terrible form of government, but it is the best form we have." Or something like that. I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure this is really close.

Though did you not express your view that we need more freedoms? Isn't democracy the only viable form of freedom?

Democracies are "mob rule" and leaves no freedom to the individual. What the majority wants, the majority gets. No country should operate like that.

A Constitutional Republic is the best form of government we can have. assuming the Constitution is followed.

But wouldn't any other form of government only leave freedom to one individual, taking away the freedom from everyone else?

Yes. The individual is the only entity that should have rights. Groups don't have rights, just individuals within that group.

I hope I read your post right. lol
