That was my thought. Sometimes people read WAY to much into movies. Personally I thought the movie looked like it ran on rule of cool more than anything (granted, I only got that from the trailers). I still want to watch it, though.
I wasn't reading into it, it's obvious that it's not what was intended, just tricking a little political commentary, which I thought was obvious. I mean c'mon
, illegal Aliens?
Ok, It just wasn't clear based off what you wrote.
But I've never been a fan of film analysis, as it tends to say more about the perspective of the person doing the analysis rather than the filmmakers.
If that was true, we'd still be wondering what 2001
was about, and we'd still believe Al Gore telling us that global warming causes glaciers to calve icebergs. You believe the same thing about book or any art criticism? Criticism of criticism is the same as whole criticism--consider the source.
Feel free to correct me if the world has changed recently and nobody told me.. I've been busy.
I sort of thought that the movies that came out between Memorial Day and Labor Day were supposed to be entertaining bits of fluff... made specifically so people would have something to do on a hot summer afternoon, that didn't involve thinking or sweating..
Has this changed, and is this why we're getting a critique?
Yes, God forbid we should think in the summer, or absent that, squeeze some substance out of the fluff with some well placed zingers, especially at the liberals expense--however unfair and one-sided it might be.
Hmmmmm, ah yes, now I see the objection.
