Recently, a still active post asked whether anyone still thought Rush Limbaugh was a bigot. Brought some thoughtful responses and a lot of emotional responses. For the most part, its not likely Rush Limbaugh is a bigot, racist or homophobe. He receives a massive amount of media attention and is monitored for any useful gaffe, intended or not, by a mission of liberal bloggers hoping to put him in an embarrassing position. If any of these people had anything, it'd be out there. Nothing has ever held water. The man has an enormous ego, but that's common in personalities on the Right and on the Left.

OK, how about Ed Schultz? Here's a very liberal commentary personality. Makes many outrageous statements and accusations regarding conservatives, Republicans, Tea Party members and the right in general. Some are accurate, most are political and ideological rhetoric colored to fire up his listeners. Is he better or worse than any other politically based TV or radio host whose show is based on commentary and analysis of the news and current events?

Many on the right claim Ed Schultz to be one of the least accurate hosts working the circuit, but he remains on a major network. One of his most recent statements concerns the just passed Senate finance regulatory bill - "To hell with all Repbulicans - they're anti-Americans". Thoughts on this guy and why he should keep his show, but so many on the Left want Limbaugh taken off the air?

He's only got less than 10,000 fans on Facebook, and until you mentioned his name, I'd never heard of him. But, then, I don't listen to the radio, unless I'm in a vehicle, and then, I want to be relaxed and entertained, not wound up and stressed out!

We are surrounded by fanatics and zealots on either side of any debate. Too bad we can't just give them all a pill...

I agree with you. Those fanatics and zealots do seem to drown out the grumbling from the rest of us in the middle. I like summer, but I'm very interested in what that grumble will bring in November.

Good post. A lot of opposition to Rush is the usual he ain't on the left so he's wrong stance. As I said on the other thread, I'm certain Rush isn't a racist bigot, but he is a religious one. He won't take calls on religious issues (while he still preaches), and in fact almost never takes calls from libertarians.

I used to be a leftist because I saw the evil in what had been done to blacks and minorities. That led me, in a time when I wasn't paying as much attention, to accept socialist programs and political correctness. What made me finally stop and look at what I was doing, was listening to Rush and he was able to convince me beyond doubt of the bias of the press. As he's said, he could spend every hour of every show giving examples and barely scratch the surface.

I shudder to think where we'd be if he hadn't been there with his impressive resources.

You haven't heard him but still you condemn him as a fanatic? Facebook? You think he gets all the attention he does because of 10,000 fans on facebook?

All I had to do was look at his radio-station's web-site and listen to a few of his audios. Anyone who puts themself in the spotlight willfully has a large ego, and is seeking attention, more so than anyone else. Whether it is a politician or a radio- or TV-announcer, or a CEO, their only way to succeed is to be a fanatic about their endeavors. That is not a condemnation, that is simply a fact of life. Welcome to another painful truth.

10K versus the nation's population doesn't appear to be one hell of a lot of 'attention' to me.

So you condemn him not because he's a fanatic (you don't think fanatics are necessarily bad [might check the dictionary on that one]), but because he's in the spotlight. So by that criteria, Obama is the most evil person in the world. (Hmmmm, you may have something there.)

You and I seem to be on separate parallel paths. I have not condemned anyone. I have simply applied a description. If you know the meaning of that word, you cannot conclude arbitrarily that I "don't think fanatics are necessarily bad."

As for the Almighty One, I was not expecting that he and his leftist cronies could have been so successful at ruining the lives of so many in so short a time.... He definitely is worthy of condemnation. I'd like to see him tarred and feathered, and run out of DC on a rail.

Happier and less devisive society for sure.
I listen to the right wing talk shows for periods of time each day.
I'm not real big on constant slandering and anger feeding so I limit it just to see what the new topic is for the day.
I much prefer better more balanced information that is not angry or intentionally hurtful.
Rush sucks in that regard.
