Pipe Bomb Detonates Near New York City’s Port Authority

20-year-old male from Bangladesh in custody after explosion at nation’s largest bus terminal

A suspected pipe bomb partially detonated Monday in New York City at the Port Authority bus terminal.

The New York Police Department tweeted that numerous subways lines were being evacuated as authorities responded to the scene. The suspect, said to be a 20-year-old male from Bangladesh, was taken into custody after reportedly being injured by the blast.

“One male suspect is in custody,” the NYPD said. “No injuries other than suspect at this time.”

According to the New York Fire Department, the suspect’s injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.

Citing sources, the New York Post has said that the suspect was seen with “wires attached to him.”

I'm glad this Mensa reject wasn't able to blow up the bomb properly. I understand he's still alive but in bad shape.

The following may be an urban myth - and I don't remember all the details to make and eloquent story, but some terrorists (in Europe?) were planning to coordinate time bombs and one of them didn't account for a time zone and ended up blowing himself up (or something like that)
