I didn't like it personally. I think it was genre creating, but I was disappointed.

I also don't like 'The Catcher in the Rye', a bit off topic but everyone I know seems to love it. I thought it was average at best.

I read it yesterday. It was a short read.... but a VERY good book.

I hated Lord of the Flies, The Catcher in the Rye is one of my favourite books.

Everyone loves The Catcher in the Rye. I just didn't get the fuss. It was readable, but forgettable imo.

I enjoyed that book. We too read it at school, which really works against the book in question because when I was there, it was the done thing to dismiss out of hand anything that may have an iota of cultural significance.

We had a great tutor though, who knew the book inside-out, as was his want I guess, and added a great many additional observations and references that enhanced the story for those who had an interest.

I can still remember him talking about the title being a reference to Satan, and how he was called Beelzibub - excuse if the spelling is wrong - and the significance of the name to flies, and so on, and so on. But I'm rambling, and it's not even clement weather...
