Patriot act

What does eveybody think of the Patriot Act. Me I think its a load of Bat s***!

I'm not from the States. You wanna give me a run down of what it is?

Well, it was made after the terrorist attacks of September 11, and my understanding of it is that it basically gives the government more power to track people's private stuff like phone calls and emails, etc., to "prevent terrorism." But I'm not completely sure.

It's just big brother legislation from what I understand.

That sounds terrible! I watched bowling for Columbine the other night and cried.

Oh. I haven't seen that yet. I'm not really a big fan of Michael Moore.

But yeah it is terrible (the Patriot Act)

I'd be spewing if I was American.

Well, I don't think it's actually been used that much, but I could be completely wrong.

But it does give them a scary amount of power.

There was even talk about checking to see what books you check out from a library.

It is horrible. It takes away lots of our constitutional rights. Fortunately the Supreme Court has ruled that parts of it our unconstitutional. I hope the whole thing gets scrapped eventually.
