Since the State and Fereral infringement on our inalienable right to educate our children as we, in our communities, see fit, education has had a downhill slide.

In what regards?
i think its important for children to be thought by people who know what they're talking about, most parents arn't capable of being able to explain math of even moderate difficulty or science too.

I think home schooling isn't always a very good idea. If you're a qualified person who is able to teach the basics and get a tutor in for most advanced stuff then it's fine but they're still not getting social interaction.

You have no "inalienable" right to educate your children as you see fit by law, but you do practically anyway. Communities are free to run their schools pretty much however they want.

And you are free to home school your kids.

It's pretty important to teach people to a uniform level nationally, even internationally.
What one local community deems a good education may be a different standard than another and when those kids step out into the big bad world and start applying for college it's in their interest to have a good grounding on par with everyone else.

Also there was one member on tfs I remember. She posted a thread about her report on global warming and it was the full of anti global warming propaganda none of which was remotely factual.

It doesn't matter what we teach children. Humans have never "moved on". You could let them teach themselves and they would be as well off.

I'd imagine that close to every person on school boards is a parent.
simply, most people have children.

Here in Canada, when I was in school, there were provincial exams that covered the major subjects such as math, the sciences, languages, and the social sciences. I don't think that they have them anymore and I think that is a step backwards for the educational system.
At least the colleges and Universities have entrance exams.
