To be honest, I don't know why people think that trickle down economics is the golden solution to a robust economy. It does give corporations more profit, yes, but there is no guarantee it will result in more hires rather than just a pocketing of the money, especially now that they have seen how much they can profit without the hires the past few years.
But either way, eliminating tax breaks to the poor and middle class will only ensure smaller corporate profits due to less spending money coming from the consumer base, probably nullifying the corporate tax breaks at best and creating another recession at worst, likely resulting somewhere in between. Do we really need this?

But what do I know, as I'm no economist. Just my two cents.

This talking point was echoing all over the socialist/liberal media blogosphere. Of course, as usual, it bogus by at least 9 ways to next weekend.

I'm very happy with Romney as Robin Hood, who, btw, robbed from the rich (Sheriff/government) to give the taxes back to the people made poor by his pillage.

NOBODY pays taxes but the individual. Corporate/business taxes, as some have already pointed out, just route the money through different channels so the liberals can demagogue conservatives and class/wealth envy, and so they can pander to the economically dumbed-down (courtesy of our fine government schools).

It's obvious that a significant number of people would rather stick it to the wealthy than try to become wealthy themselves. A rising tide lifts all boats, unless people are jumping out of their canoes to drill holes in the yachts.

I think you might have misread that. It says Robin Hood in Reverse which, btw, would mean that he robbed from the poor and gave to the rich.

They can't cut down their spending? Oh, right. DC. Nevermind, the thought probably never even crossed their minds.

Yep. The Democrats don't want to cut back on social programs and the Republicans don't want to cut back on defense spending. Either way, though, it is too late, as taxes are eventually going to have to be raised at some point if we ever want to reasonably deal with our national debt.

It isn't so much taxing companies more as much as it is cutting taxes to the middle/lower class. The latter is better for the economy according to the bipartisan Congressional Budget Office.

https://www.utsandiego.com/news/2011/apr/07/spending-better-tax-cuts-revive-economy-report-say/

"Corporate tax cuts generate 20 cents of economic activity for every dollar being cut, since the companies are now using the money more for rebuilding their reserves or paying off old bills instead of expanding their operations and hiring new employees....while tax cuts to the middle and lower brackets create $1.05, since the money is more likely to be spent quickly. As the money enters the economy, it has a 'rippling effect' of encouraging more economic activity."

Considering nearly half tax filers pay no Federal income tax its pretty difficult to cut their taxes.

Not really ... you just send them more income tax credits...you know that whole Robin Hood thing...only this time he is not a hero since he actually takes from the rich and gives to the poor.

That's what Robin Hood did that made him a hero. Are you feeling okay?

Umm...only because the robin hood of old was supposedly stealing the money back because the rich stole from and oppressed the poor.

I'm sorry, suddenly this conversation makes no sense. I'll have to read it again when I have time.

I'm confused at this point about what Glenn is saying.

Well considering that, as much as the government is concerned, corporations and businesses are people, then the point is moot.

Yes, because every business model shows that increased profit or revenue MUST = expanding business ventures...

Oh wait. No they don't...

Okay. I get what's going on now. Before I can actually articulate it, I need to know...who is "the rich" according to you?

(Fractal, I quoted you for the sake of the conversation making sense later.)

No the rich spend more money and make more money and pay more TOTAL taxes.

If someone spends a million dollars a year and pays 10% taxes on it ... They will always pay more total taxes than someone who only spends 100,000 dollars and pays 20% in taxes.

No, the rich make more money then the poor. And they don't spend all of it every year, or at least the ones who actually want to BE rich instead of just looking like they are. A person can make a 6 figure salary and have negative net worth. Considering that net worth is used to decide who are the richest people in the world, I "assume" this is the criteria you're using to define who is rich.
