"President Obama suspended Food Stamp work requirement when he signed his economic stimulus legislation into law, and the number of the adults on food stamps doubled from 1.9 million in 2008 to 3.9 million in 2010." Who knows where we are after '11 &'12.

Number of able-bodied adults on program double after Obama suspends work requirements.

So even if the work requirement for welfare that Obama just suspended does increase employment 20% (in how many years AFTER the election?), is it going to similarly double welfare payments in 2 years?

Just thought I'd point out that what he's done is repeal the welfare reform signed by Bill Clinton.

Why should we pay for others to sit on their asses and do nothing with their lives?

Yes.

That is why Reps hate Obama so much. He is a moderate republo-conservican in disguise.

Also: The bill was sponsored by Nancy Pelosi. It was passed in the Senate with over 66% of republicans supporting it.

So, somehow, the Reps overwhelmingly supported two of their biggest enemies.

I guess the Reps actually liked this bill.

Huh? How is repealing the work requirements for food stamps and welfare anything but another big government socialist act?

She, like Clinton, was triangulating in response to Republican pressure. The public overwhelmingly supports welfare reform. I should have put reform in quotes ("reform" ) in the title--or called it reform reform.

The one signed by Clinton? Yeah. It think your confused. You just can't understand anyone supporting anything from the other side no matter what, which is current administration's and Democrat policy. Otherwise why do they continue to blame the video instead of appeasing Al Quida and terrorism?

I'm not on the "other side".

I am neither Rep or Dem.

Take a look at Obama's policies and compare him to other presidents... he is like a moderate Rep.

Of course you are so frightened that you cannot see reality.

Irrelevant to your welfare issue and really doesn't make any sense.

Are you saying that Obama should be appeasing Al Qaeda? Why would he do that?

Are you trying to say that the video was made by Obama?

Please try hard to start making some sense.

You do this frequently, say one thing and then try to support it with unrelated issues.

Negative sir! They need to go back to the way it used to be and make you stand in a line outside to sign up for it and embarrass the hell out of you for being so lazy. Or at least actually check those out who are applying to make sure they REALLY Need it

I take no issue with anyone needing help and tax payers helping to give them that help. I take issue with able bodied and minded people choosing not to work and allowing it to go on for generations and generations in their family so that it them comes a lifestyle.

Something needs to be done to prevent abuse because those who abuse give all a bad name and that is not right.

I think:

1. Submit a form monthly to show that each week you applied for 5 jobs that fit your education and previous work experience.

2. Random drug testing

3. Having to do volunteer work to give back to community that is helping them.

4. Home investigations monthly to prove a single mom is not getting a cheque for 5 kids and has a working b/f living with her and not reporting his income.

You know what else happened between 2008 and 2010? The financial system f***ing imploded. You gonna blame that on Obama too?

Repealed?
Don't you really mean suspended?
For 7 months in 2009 because we were still bottoming out of the Bush recession you mean?
Get a grip. Of course numbers would be rising in a recession. Of course numbers will rise as the total population numbers increase.
You can thank Bush that this was neccessary and that more people have to be on welfare.

Not what this was about. The jobs lost because of Bush's recession meant many able bodied people could not eat properly.

Don't fall for that line. This was the worst economic period since the great depression.
I'm glad we have a safety net that keeps food on people's tables.

He did NOT repeal it. It was suspended for 7 months and the states could (and some did not have to follow it).
