AS a matter of fact I did just that. Do you think that is what has caused my problem?

I went back to History and clicked on "Firefox will now remember history, then OK. But when I went to a new web page I again had to type in the full URL!

Firefox "autocompletes" those URLs based on sites that are in your history.

If you clear out your history, it won't be able to autocomplete the URL because it doesn't know you've visited that site before.

Sites that you go to from now on will be remembered the next time you go to type them in. However, by clearing the history you forced Firefox to forget that you've ever been to a website.

a web history is based off where we have been, not what exists. Like you would know how to navigate your home town becuase you have been there so much. just part of an address will clue you in hoe to get to grandma's house

when you clear your history you computer forgets all that.

its like if someone hit you over the head and gave you amnesia... and telling you go to grandmas house. you have no clue where to start, so you just stand there until someone gives you the complete address.

Your computer browser has to re-remember the most used sites all over again.
