A new find dating about 4.4 million years determined that we were decendents of an earlier biped known as ARDI. --Sacramento BEE, 091002. A normal discovery. Notebelow for developmnt.

THE ARTICLE, "DARWIN'S GREATEST DISCOVERY", BY FRANCISCO AYALA LEAVES ONE IN THE THINKING PHASE. WONDER IF HE HAS LEFT SOMETHING OUT? SUGGEST REVIEWING THE FOLLOWING LETTERS. THEY MAY HELP! WASH
BEGINNING (SOCIETY) (850720)
IN THE BEGINNING 916 408 8575
In the beginning there was nothing! Then this earth was formed and, in time, environmental changes occurred which encouraged growth of microorganisms and simple plant life. As the earth aged and the environment changed, these life forms adapted to the changes --- or died!
To assure survival on this constantly changing environment, the cell structure of some life forms became more complex. Some developed special organs and appendages which they used in the hunt and fight or flight! Gradually one species , a biped, broke through the mental barriers of the instinct to survive into the age of reasoning. It was the species which we called Homo. He bore very little resemblance to modern man, who to this day, has no belief in the continuity of life after death. He believes that he is the highest of intelligent life in existence today - or ever!!
Today there is still a difference of opinion in the initial birth of modern man. From slime? or from Adam?
The protagonists of each group have always been endowed with the faculties required to resolve those differences -- but they were blind to the possibility that a solution (or common ground) exists. Their argument resolves around the beliefs in the historical books called the Torah, Bible, and Koran Vs archeological discoveries , the Galapagos Islands oddities, and Darwin's theory of natural selection (survival of the fittest.)
lets put the creationists and evolutionists to the test. Given:

Gneiss 4, Verse 16,17.
And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the East of Eden. And Cain knew his wife.
Is it possible that the "land of Nod" was populated with non-Adam related people? I am sure that Cain's wife was not his sister.
Genesis 6, Verse 1,2,4.
1, And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair: and they took them wives of all which they chose. 4, There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of man and they bore children unto them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Did God have sons? Were these sons Gods in their own right? Were there giants on the earth in those days? Could there be some truth in Greek and Norse mythology? Could the geniuses of yesterday and today be from the recessive genetic offspring of the sons of God of the distant past?
Compare the above to the absolute facts of archeological discoveries and Darwin's theory! There is strength here also!
Only an open mind can tell! WASH

Is this about the discovery of Ardi? If so shouldn't it be in the science forum, what has this to do with religion.

So Ardi was found in Ethiopia I was wondering if you think she could be related to the people of Nod."Cain picked a wife among the beasts of the field."
