As noticeable as ever.

Look at each area of the country on the election map

https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/region/12.stm

Excluding Wales look at the winners of each general area. Scotland is Labour, as are the North East and North West. Look at Yorkshire? Labour. However Midlands and south is Tory, in each area other than London and Wales.

The Geographical divide is really noticeable.

I think London is more Labour because of the huge rich/poor divisions. Not to stereotype, but considering how much Labour have done for the working class and the policies they've focused on, poorer people and ethnic minorities are more likely to vote for them. That's my take on it anyway.

Actually, if you focus on the London bit, Labour won seats in poorer areas or those areas with more ethnic minorities. The more well-off areas went or stayed with Tories.

It's the same if you look at the Eastern region. The only two Labour seats are here in ethnically diverse Luton, a shining beacon of hope surrounded by a sea of Tory blue.

So maybe it's not just a north/south divide! I have mixed feelings about this lol

It's more impoverished 'working class' areas that are likely to vote Labour, and well off areas that are likely to vote Tory.

As it happens, generally rural areas are more likely to be well off and Cities more impoverished, but southern and central England is a lot more well off than Northern Areas or Scotland.

What bucks that trend is that even the well off areas in Scotland (for example West Aberdeenshire, where I am originally from) tend to vote Liberal rather than Tory even though it is a well off area.

I find that interesting.

I personally think the best option is another election. I don't think a Con/Lib coalition would work and a Lab/Lib one would be really unstable, because they'd need to include the smaller parties to make a majority. We need another election, this time without Brown (I wouldn't mind getting rid of Cameron too hehe). I also think all the parties need to be more specific when it comes to their policies, especially the Tories. In the debates and in their manifesto, they talk a lot about "Big Society" but they're not very specific on how exactly it will work.

You're probably right, too. I agree about the policy issue. None of them seemed to have anything coherent, just a lot of general buzzwords and non-specific notions. I've given up. Brown has to go, that's for sure. I used to vote Labour and I'm afraid I can't whilst he's in power. I don't think much of the Miliband/Balls options either (especially not the Balls part of that).
