https://observer.com/2016/05/no-amount-of-working-class-whites-can-win-trump-the-white-house/ An election is the ultimate numbers game. No matter how much the punditocracy talks about intangibles such as “momentum” and various bits of anecdotal evidence, in the end, it comes down to one simple question: can the candidate can get the votes? More specifically: can the candidate get the votes in the right states to win a majority in the Electoral College?
With Donald Trump poised to capture the Republican nomination, we hear a lot about intangibles, but there has been very little analysis of the numbers. And the more we dig into the numbers, the less likely it seems that Mr. Trump can actually win the general election in November.
Yes, it is true that his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, has problems of her own. Ms. Clinton herself admits that she is not a natural politician. Her own shortcomings, coupled with a quarter-century of Republicans hammering her with endless accusations, innuendoes and insinuations, has taken an unmistakable toll on the public’s perception of her character. An average of 10 polls compiled by Real Clear Politics between March 19 and April 26 shows Ms. Clinton with an average favorable/unfavorable rating of 38.4/54.9, a negative spread of 16.5 percentage points. Well that was interesting......

As frightening as it may seem, I am not convinced that the premise that Trump cannot win the White House is correct.

There are a variety of reasons, but foremost is that many many people do not like Hillary...many.

Like it or not, it is a fact.

At least one poll put Trump at 41% and Clinton at 39%.

If she adopts the attitude that this is her election, she will lose...it has happened before.

I can not disagree with you on that.

Yeah, I have little confidence that Hillary can actually beat Trump. I am also losing faith Bernie will have the turn out to beat Hillary. His supporters are among demographics that have low turn out. I mean he is ahead in IN and probably will win it, but he needs bigger margins to get ahead, and doesn't have a lot of the superdelegate support. It's not quite over yet, but the outlook is bleak.

I think cruz is dropping out though, so at least the Trump part of the deal will be sealed.

Hillary has an almost insurmountable lead, and if she wins a percentage of Bernie followers will fail to show up and/or boycott the election.

Even if Bernie pulls it off, the will be labeled a socialist and therefore a communist...tough labels for many that older than about 45 to stomach.... dumb... but such is life and politics.

As to Cruz... I think even Boehner would (secretly) prefer and (secretly) vote for Hillary.

Republicans, conservatives, nut bags and Hillary haters will all ultimately line up behind Trump.

9 months ago I thought Hillary was a virtual done deal and only Buch could stop her...

I was wrong.

It isn't over yet, but I would't bet my lunch money.

Definitely something in the air.
However Trump keeps dishing up s*** sandwiches though most of us refuse to eat 'em.
He will continue to serve them & a surprising number of numbskulls will continue to eat 'em up.

You got me as to why.....

The desire to vote for a living is too strong among too many people. I seriously doubt there will ever be another Republican president. But, Trump has a better shot at beating Clinton than anybody else.

I'm frankly terrified now.

I can't stand the thought of a Trump presidency, not that I could have stood the thought of Cruz...in fact he would have been worse. But I figured they would continue to bicker back and forth until the convention, then the convention would blow up, and all the republicans would hate each other and take their toys and go home and we'd just have the very angry old lady as president.

Now, having the very angry old lady for president isn't what I want either, because frankly, I'm getting close to retirement and I really don't want more of the same. The same has been good, but I need about 8 or 9 years of better than good in order to retire comfortably... so I'm not happy with potentially 8 years of the angry old lady.

But, now that Cruz has dropped out, I'm terrified that people like me, who don't like Hillary, and probably won't vote for her will end up making Donald the next president, and then I'll never be able to retire.

Don't be terrified, son. I have the best retirement plan for my fellow Americans. Nobody has a retirement plan as good as me.

(CNN)

Ted Cruz on Tuesday unloaded on Donald Trump, accusing him during a news conference of being a "pathological liar," "utterly amoral," "a narcissist at a level I don't think this country's ever seen" and "a serial philanderer."

Wait...I'm pretty sure that those are the same things Cruz said about Obama...

...but now Cruz likes Obama more...

I'm not so sure if Trump can pull off a general election. That being said he's pulled off way more then I ever would have thought he'd do. I remember when he first got into the race I thought for sure he'd get bored and drop out. He was doing it for a lark or whatever. He's basically secured the nomination since Kasich is going to announce that he's dropping out.

Leaves a lot of republican types with no one else to support but him. I'm not sure how many are going to just go along with it as they fear Hillary may be worse. IDK, I don't care for either politician. I think Hilary's an old hack that been in the system too long and is a liar as well. Trump is a bit scary with the stuff that comes out of his mouth and he's all over the place when it comes to policy issues. Yesterday at his speech winning Indiana and Cruz announcement that he was dropping out Trump was just rambling on and promising the world and not providing any plan details, just rhetoric. His little name calling game and big mouth has got to be able to back up stuff and there's no way he can do the things he's muttering on about, for too many reasons.

We often seem to be in the situation were "we" vote for the "lesser of two evils".

A lot of people dislike Trump.

A lot of people (seem to) hate Hillary.

So, this time the question might be more like: "is Trump disliked more than Hillary is hated?"

It must be difficult to choose a vote between some idiots, pathological liars, lunatics and pathetic candidates.
May 'god', the devils, or whatever is deemed worthy of power and miracles, help the Americans.
If unsure of what to do, best to move to the UK before the EU referendum, precisely before the UK tighten the rules for the visas and workers !
Good Luck !

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm already burnt out on politics.

Can we skip the rest of the politicking, name calling and accusations and jump right to the jousting and Thunderdome?

Just hang in there...the good stuff is coming...mainly Obama's move to step in and get re-elected...and then take over the world.
