The Yankees ended the regular season with 94 wins and a trip to the playoffs for the 13th consecutive year. The Yanks will begin their quest for their 27th World Series championship on Thursday.

A-Rod drove in his 156th RBI of the season. The starting pitching and the bullpen shut down the potent Orioles in an impressive 10-4 victory. Posada, Jeter, and Cano had the day off.

Sean Henn got the start, but it was Chase Wright (2-0) who got the win in the regular-season finale.

The Yankees lit up both starting pitcher Brian Burres and Victor Zambrano: 9 runs, 10 hits, and 6 walks.

With the game tied 1-1, the Yankees went on the attack in the third.

With one on and two out, a double by Wilson Betemit scored A-Rod to give the Yanks a 2-1 lead.

The Yankes caught fire in the fourth.

A ground-rule double and a single put the Yankees in prime position to extend their lead. A single by Johnny Damon scored Doug Mientkiewicz to make it 3-1.

With the bases loaded and nobody out, Bobby Abreu hit into a fielder's choice that scored Jose Molina to give the Yanks a 4-1 lead.

The Yankees chased Burres and went right to work on Zambrano.

With the bases loaded and one out, Zambrano hit Giambi with a pitch that scored Damon to push their lead to 5-1.

With the bases loaded and one out, Wilson Betemit punctuated the four-run inning with a groundout that scored Abreu to extend their lead to 6-1.

Chase Wright relieved Sean Henn in the fourth and allowed 1 run on 1 hit.

The Yankees added to their lead in the fifth.

With the bases loaded and one out, a walk by Zambrano scored Mientkiewicz to give the Yanks a commanding 7-2 lead.

Ross Bell relieved Zambrano and he wasn't much better.

With the bases loaded and one out, a sacrifice fly by Bronson Sardinha scored Jose Molina to extend their lead to 8-2.

Jason Giambi followed with a two-out single that scored Shelley Duncan to make it 9-2.

Ross Ohlendorf relieved Wright and allowed 1 run on 2 hits to make it 9-3.

The Yankees added to their lead in the seventh.

Wilson Betemit ripped an RBI single to center that scored Sardinha to make it 10-3.

Ohlendorf and Joba Chamberlain combined to pitch a scoreless seventh.

Chris Britton pitched a scoreless eighth and Kyle Farnsworth allowed 1 run on 1 hit before finally sealing the deal.

A-Rod and Wilson Betemit combined to go 4-for-7 with 1 run and 4 RBIs on the day.
