New Posts made while posting

Some other forums have something along the lines of when you make a post it will let you know if someone else has posted while you were writing yours, it will then give you the opportunity to edit your entry before posting, so you don't look a plank because someone has posted something seconds before you - can that kind of thing be done? i think the forums i seen it on were SMF powered forums
