Have you ever conasidered moving the United Nations headquarters out of the United States> To China? Or maybe to Russia? Could give the members a jolt. The contrast I mean!

Interesting idea. Never thought of that before. If it were a more mobile organization I suppose would make them all feel more unified as opposed to having to be United States-ified.

interesting Idea but I'm sure the U.S. wouldn't stand for that

It would probably be a good idea to place it on unowned land. Of course, in the modern world, the land available would be limited to a desert island or a man-made platform in the middle of the ocean. Plus, JuanSmith has a good point. Our government wouldn't want it to leave US soil.

That strange though 'cause in the past the U.S. has always criticised the U.N. so why would they care where it is? I agree though. They would care. Just wondering why though

Personally I'd like to see the UN totally disbanded, along with the IMF. Failing that, put them all in Antarctica!

There might be more reasons, but I can think of 2. 1st, it gives New York and by extention America more tourist $ and $ the diplomats would undoubtably spend. True, New York could survive just fine without that $, but it doesn't hurt to get a little extra. 2nd, it gives us more leverage. After all, it IS in our country. There's no doubt that gives us at least a little bit of influence.

If we controlled the UN, I think a lot of votes would come out different.

I wish they would move the UN off of United States property.
Be good enough for em too. Put it in Africa or South America. Who needs it.

I bet they'd care more about Africa and South America if they were headquartered there too.

Control everything? Name something ---> in the United Nations <--- that could ever be controlled by the United States, Seems that whatever good idea presented by our REP is voted down.

technically the UN is not on US soil, it is on international territory. (a bit like embassies being on their own countries soil) It wouldn't really matter where the building was. The reasons to keep it in new york are numourous. Its alot safer for diplomats than china or russia, the infastructures there to deal with visiting leaders etc. And the USA doesn't control the UN, far from it, on the UN security council it only has one real peranent ally in the UK, and in the main forum every country has a equal say.
