More Internet Connections...

First of all I am very proud of myself. I installed win xp on my lappy and it works well even though it only has 64 mb ram First question..... will running xp on my lappy do damage (considering the lack of ram)?

I worked out how to use the infrared thingy so now I can send and recieve pics, sounds, text to and from my fone to computer and can edit all my #'s and addresses etc on my computer rather than doing it on the fone itself. I'm very happy about that

I finally got the internal modem installed on the lappy too. Very happy again Means I now have two internet capeable computers in the house since it frees up the external modem However.....

Second question. Not that it seems to be a problem but when I had the external modem connected the connection speed for that modem showed 115.6 Kbps (I have dial-up) but the internal modem connection speed shows 38.6 Kbps?????!!!!!!?

Like I said I cant really notice any speed problems but just wondering why that is?

Can anyone enlighten me?

dude that is fast (for dial-up) around here you are very lucky if your dial-up speed reaches 35 kbps damn i am glad i have cable i get around 6 Mbps



and as for the question of hurting it because of your lack of ram win XP requires so much ram (i aint for sure how much) to run correctly and if you arent meeting that requirement i dont think it will hurt anything it will just run damn slow the same as if you tried to play a game which the requirement was 128 megs of ram on your laptop it would run but it would just be very very slow
