So I woke up this morning, powered on the compy and got an error message saying that windows couldnt start because of a missing or corrupt system32hal.dll file.

So .... googled the problem and tried a few things but nothing worked.

Decided to move all the contents of my c drive (used for storage - d is the windows drive) to my laptop with my trusty external eSATA by taking out the c drive.

Was going to do a clean install of windows on the storage drive and see if I could access the much needed files on the windows drive that way.

Was just about to do it but decided that the processor fan looked rather dusty. Gave it a clean and powered on ....

Ta da!!!! Windows starts with no problems!

Thank jebus for that!

So, if anyone ever has problems with missing files at startup try getting the dust out of everything before getting too drastic with things!
