I'm betting on a 2nd term, as we Americans aren't smart enough to not re-elect him.

Then by the end of the 2nd term or shortly thereafter Melania and the Donald will separate; no divorce, that's probably (for all practical purposes) blocked by a prenuptial.

Trump will have given immunity to Kushner & Trump Jr, which will be viewed as acceptable to 21st Century Republicans & Trump followers.

Trump will get paid to be a commentator for Fox and continue to put on campaign style rallies.

Otherwise the Trump Clan will be mostly ostracized by the global and US business community.

Hollywood might offer Trump another go at the Apprentice. As pathetic as it would be for a former president to be a game show host, Trump will probably do it.

I doubt his health mental and or physical will hold out long enough to finish this first term , much less go the gas on a 2nd one.
Who here would be surprised that if Trump sr. health goes south , little jr. will try to step up claiming its his right as first born or he's been groomed to fill daddy's shoes or some such bull s*** ?

You could well be right.

If I were Trump, I would start talking term limits. I would say that I was not going to run because there should be term limits. He could probably get some of his buddies like Lindsey Graham to put up a bill to limit the Presidency to one 6 year term.... it wouldn't work, but that isn't the point. By talking term limits Trump could say, I'm the greatest president ever in the USA, I save our economy, saved our military, defended out dignity abroad, put two conservative justices on the Supreme Court (and it might be more by the end of term)and tried to get the Wall... but Democrats and the MSM are evil and thwarted that in Congress by fraudulently stealing the mid-term election by voter fraud. And I saved the Republican Party. Patriotic citizens across out country are begging me to run for a 2nd term, but I believe it is wrong...TERM LIMITS!!! So will lead by example....etc etc...

It would all be a load ob BS, but Republicans would eat it up and Trump could feed his deformed ego by claiming to be America's savior.

In addition, the odds are the the economy is going to back slide a little starting (roughly) in late 2019 or 2020. If Trump does not run again, there is a fair chance that a Democrat will win... so, a Dem wins, the economy starts a downward trend.. Trump and Republicans scream SEE! THE SOCIALIST DEMS ARE TRYING TO DESTROY AMERICA!. Dumb Americans agree and a Republican is elected in 2024. Trump touts victory on Fox News... etc...

On the other hand.... if he runs for a 2nd term and loses, he screams VOTER FRUAD! and Republicans will do the same. If he wins a 2nd term, he actually has some degree of proof that America loves him.

At this point Trump's biggest problem is that his son and son-in-law might get indicted. That would probably kill his chance for re-election, taint his presidency and seriously damage his mental health.

I'm prepared for the worst... a 2nd term for Cadet Bone Spurs.

(Having lived through roughly 8 hurricanes, one of the biggest earthquakes in recorded history, one of the worst wild fires in California history, sand storms, blizzards, trekking through jungles and deserts, and a tour in the Iraq... preparing for and surviving the worst is what I do best.)

I have friends & family that have jokingly (or not so jokingly) offered me money to stay out of their states at certain times of the year (mid westerners - tornado season, Floridians- hurricane season, mid-Atlantic & North East - winter...)

I do all that here on TFS.

In the real world & Facebook I take a live and let live approach, don't get into political arguments, don't insult people... and stick to facts.

Example: As I said here many times from 2009 -2016, there were many reasons to dislike Obama... however many of the complaints were BS... many.

And now with Trump... well I just refer people to his twitter feed and public statements (easy to find on either news or YouTube)... but I do roll my eyes noticeably when the "thousands of illegal aliens voting nonsense comes out"... etc

The USA is turning into a rude place, with many people walking around ready to pick a fight (oral or even physical) over what should be relatively simple differences in political opinion.

Bickering is a human nature thing I think. We bicker with parents and or siblings before we have mastered speech as toddlers . Tiresome , yes but most non politician , non party extremists adults can back off before it turns ugly. What happens to the grey matter of a person who decide to become a politician ? Suddenly after elected they are not capable of stepping up and owning anything . Even if there is video of them saying , doing , causing what ever it is they won't own . Their mouths won't /can't form the words 'my bad I'll get started fixing it', or 'our bad ' if its a party deal or worse both party's fault.

I think the answer might be for the Citizens of the USA to develop a near zero tolerance for the BS that politicians do... i.e. the lying, cheating, stealing.

One of the problems with that is that BOTH sides would have to essentially agree and call out their own.

What I see: Republican friend of mine see a Democrat/Liberal doing something wrong and he screams bloody murder about the evil leftist who wants to destroy American. Or, if the Democrat/Liberal/Leftist complains about a Republican doing something wrong, he has two answers (usually presented at the same time): A) Well look what your guy did!!! and B) Ahhh poor crybaby snowflake, boo hoo!

Now, don't get me wrong with that example... I have Democrat friends who do the same thing.

However, my Republican friends just seem to be worse at it lately.

In fact, most of my Republican friends spent the entire Obama administration years complaining, moaning... literally sniveling and (often) inventing BS stuff (he's going to take our guns, he's going to run for president a 3rd time, etc, etc)

So, you'd think they would have stopped all the crying and sniveling once Trump was in office...right?

NOPE... they are still whining, crying and complaining...maybe even more

Anyway... bottom line: Neither side holds their politicians accountable; with very few exceptions.

And to continue that thought:

Neither side give credit to the other side either.

Examples:

1. The economy has been getting better and unemployment dropping since late 2009/early 2010. This is a fact. Republicans used to acknowledge this and say its the slowest recovery in history. OK... that might well be true; the slowest. None the less the economy was getting better for six (6) years.

Now Republicans act like Trump did it all.

That is BS.

Yes, Trump hasn't blown the economy, and in fact it has continued to get better. However, the reality is that the US economy is presently in its 2nd longest period of growth in history. The credit goes 1st to Obama and 2nd to Trump.

Its like have a baseball pitcher has 7 innings in a row... the team is winning for those 7 innings... then another pitcher comes in and has two good innings... so claims that he won the game. That isn't how baseball works. The 1st pitcher gets the win. Now if the 1st pitcher is losing the game and a 2nd pitcher comes in and wins the game, the 2nd pitcher gets the win... gets the credit.

Granted sports analogies only go so far, but the point remains.

Again, this sort of thing goes both ways. Neither side likes to admit that the other side did anything right.

So were left with the vast majority of Americans only blaming the other side, and never giving legitimate credit to the other side.... Americans are both poor winners & poor losers.

I'm going to go ahead and beat the dead horse on this one... my apologies for being so verbose.

Another example is pulling out of Iraq.

1. Right or wrong, the war was started by Bush.
2. The Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) setting forth the withdrawal was signed by Bush.
3. Obama carried out the withdrawal.

> Now, we can argue whether or not the war was "good or bad", "just or unjust", "necessary or not necessary". However we cannot intelligently argue that the war was Obama's initiative. It literally started 6 years before Obama was president. He gets no credit; good or bad.

> We can argue that the SOFA was "good or bad" (etc). However, we cannot argue intelligently that the SOFA was due to Obama's actions. Obama gets no credit; good or bad.

> The withdrawal of troops was done by Obama. Now here we can argue some level of "right or wrong", "good or bad".

a. We can say it was "good" and Obama was right to follow the SOFA, in which case Obama gets some small credit.

b. We can say the SOFA was "bad" but Obama had not choice, in which case Obama get no real blame.

c. We can say that the SOFA was "bad" and Obama should have ignored it, or abandoned it, or canceled it, or called for a renegotiation of the SOFA, in which case Obama gets some blame.

etc

When talking about Trump , sports analogies work as well as any .
There has been to many to count, times since Trump took office and some extreme right leaning voter is gloating about how extreme intense violent the left is blah , blah
And turned on anyone like ugly on ape , who had the nerve to remind them about the rights behaviors or reactions to Obama . It's almost entertaining as long as its taking place across the room . I will say this for Trump . His many and varied 'faults' since taking office has shot Obama's popularity though the roof like nothing else could. Hell if Obama had , had the numbers he has today on all those job approval polls back when he was in office even the most extreme repub politician couldn't say him nay .
But I digress,
There is a party Veterans of America , I have hung out on the local state page for this party . I think they can only be found on face book at this time.
Could a strong third party with candidates who has enough funds at least to keep up or stay in sight , and who has a grasp of the issues . Could that shake loose the dead locked finger pointing bulls*** that the dems and repubs seem to be neck deep in .

reminding a repub about the righties reaction to Obama in office is on par with reminding them Obama inherited not one but two wars and the huge debt incurred by Bush's borrowing borrowing , borrowing from others. There are a few topics that if your not quick a repub will take your head off over.
