Hi. Does anyone know if there is a method of naming tracks that are already ripped into a file. EG I have loads of albums on my HDD which the majority have the jpeg covers, but most of them in the files are named Track 1,2,3,4 etc. is there a method of using the net to recognise the tracks and name them, or put the album name into something that will then name the tracks for you. Or am I just going to have to spend months reading the covers and renaming the track by hand.

Do you have the files tagged? In other words, if you play them in WinAmp or WMP or iTunes, does it show the proper artist, track name, etc?

If so, you can use a program called Tag & Rename that will rename the files to whatever you want.

If not, you will have to listen and decipher what the song is and name it by hand. No program can tell what song an MP3 is just by analyzing ths ound.

If you download Tag & Rename, it will show you which ones have tags.

For the ones that don't have tags (the ones that show no info when you play them), you will have to do them manually.

Your right laura they do, but some of these I have had in MP? format for years and I just spent time putting them all on an external NAS drive so they are available whenever I want them without finding the disc.

Ok I will have a look for that and see what happens.
