My sister spent all of last week in the hospital after being admitted and diagnosed with bleeding on the brain. Luckily, all the tests came back negative and she was discharged.

However, she is now worried about the fact that she can't smell or taste anything. Is that a common thing after a brain injury?

Hon, she needs to call the doctors and put this question to them. This is a very serious things she's suffered. She should only talk with a professional.

She has...they don't have an answer for her either.

Just looking to see if anyone else has had any experience like that

In that case...I've never heard of such a thing myself. I feel for her though; those senses are so very important, although taken for granted by most.
I hope they return to her soon, that it's just a temporary 'fluke' type thing or something...
Keep us posted.

I had a similar experience of losing my sense of smell before, not related to any head injury though, it just happened. It lasted for a day or two, then it went back to normal.

But like the other posters have mentioned, your sister's case is a bit serious so it would be best to seek professional advice to avoid any further complication.

Like I said...she has asked her doctors about it...I was simply posting this to see if others had had any experiences as such.
