It has new controls and a new framework (.NET Framework 3.5)
The even more interesting fact is that the next-to-next version of Visual Studio has also
been announced. Currently codenamed "Rosario", this will be the version of VS following
the "Orcas" release. Parallel development on this has also started.
And finally, a new product/tool, currently only known as "Springfield", is also in the
works that will allow non-professionals to be able to create applications without needing
to code. This would be an interesting tool to keep an eye out for - for both practical
application creation as well as a intial learning tool.

3D "Cubed" Virtual Desktop Manager for Windows
Linux has had a fairly cool virtual desktop manager in Compiz. This allows users to place
applications on 4 faces of a 3D cube and rotate the cube around to view the applications.
And this has always been touted as a better option than the Flip3D of Windows Vista.
However, there is now a small, free tool that imitates the same functionality on Windows
XP and Vista. Link: https://chsalmon.club.fr/index.php?en/Yod-m-3d-about
