We watched Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins the other night.

Based on the true life story of the eponymous wealthy New York socialite and wannabe opera singer who.... er.... couldn't sing. She was completely tone deaf and had a voice like a demented Screech Owl. Simon Helberg plays a very touching part as her naive but devotedly loyal pianist.

Despite Meryl's cringe-inducing renditions of various arias during the film the pathos, love and underlying tragedy of her life unfolds. It is a truly touching film. If you have never seen it, you should.

It will be shown on Auntie Beeb over the Christmas holiday. Any UK readers of this post would find it two hours very well spent watching this excellent movie.

The Gentlemen.

A solid enough film though in my opinion not as good as Lock, Stock or Snatch. For me personally Colin Farrell steals the show.

I could see why the "progressive" left hated it

Parasite

It was good!

Even without superhero, special CGI FX spaceship chase scenes, blowing things to smithereens by uber-robots orchestrated by mega-evil alien beings.

... I think that's in the sequel.

Gemini Man

I think the movies main message was 'don't trust Geminis'...

Last movie I saw was Spirit Away,

It literally gave me nightmares and it's a CHILD movie :/ , tbh the movie was kind of fun & traumatising at the same time.

Transformers: Age of Extinction... too long, too much action, a few too many one sided analogies. I liked the film, the script was good and the story was interesting. A little less would have been better.
