While listening to this story on the radio, the FAKE NEWS!!! said that "some conservative groups" are upset, because this issue should be up to the parents not the government.

I kind of think of marriage as between consenting adults. A person below the age of consent cannot consent and hence should not be allowed to marry.

You were misinformed... apparently... I am sorry for all the joys of pre-adolescent nuptials that you missed out on.

Sadly you won't get those early teen years of marriage bliss (or before ) back.

I believe that marriage is (or should be) between consenting adults. Before the age of consent (which varies) consent cannot be given.

There is (of course) a difference between what is and what should be ...and there are many different opinions as to what should be. I believe that everyone has a right to my opinion as to what should be.

What are the pro's and con's of marriage?

What are the pros of people under that age of 18 getting married? Under 16? Under 14? Under...?

Some find marriage a struggle as an adult how are kids going to do any better??

Financial benefits (e.g. taxes)

Inheritance (actually you could write a will so this does not count)

Companionship

Commitment

Raise a child with two parents (role models)

Sex (monogamy reduces the chance of STD)

Why marriage at all?

Con: You have to deal with your partner’s family

Con: Marriage is about seeking societies approval.

Con: most marriages end in divorce and that cost a whole great big lot of money.

Con: loss of freedom

It depends on whether you are the young gigalo gold digger, or the old lonely rich rich woman.
