Kaavan the Elephant
This is a lovely story and great credit must go to all those who campaigned for him, including Cher for their part in putting this terrible situation to rights.
At last, Kaavan is back among his own kind after being kept in isolation in Pakistan since his mate died in 2012.
I'm not entirely sure he would have been overly taken with the chanting Buddhist monks who welcomed him, but I'm sure they meant well and it says much for their sense of connection with the natural world.
I hope he lives for many more years and is happy in his new home in Cambodia
