im 18 and engaged.
if i got married today i couldn't be happier.
age is just a factor., and im not just saying that because im 18 and engaged.
i truly have reason to believe so.

if you're responsible enough to make your own life decisions, and own up to the consequences., do what you like.
I dont think shes too young.

I'm 18 and although I think 17 is a little young, only the two people involved can truly know whether they're ready or not. If they're convinced that they're ready for marriage, then they should be allowed to marry, despite their age. I understand the concerns of their parents... ultimately though, they have to let their kids make their own mistakes, if it does turn out that way.

hi

im 17 and the thought of me getting married sort of scars me...mabye she different.

Thou I cant help but think, mabye she too young and if this guy really is as great as you say, he will wait for her. Until their both more mature.

Also a friend of mine is "MADLY" in love with this guy. He is Sweet. They make each other laugh. They have been together for three year. No plans of getting married yet and they dont see the need rush. Its not like it changes you, it could just add extra stress.

Remember family over Boy/girlfriends or one day you might regreate it

Good advice. Very sensible. Marriage is a commitment requiring the ability to problem-solve by putting the good of the marriage ahead of one's personal desires. bybee

I think 17 is a bit young as the girl is still a child really. She should take time to get to know the world and live a little before making a commitment at such an early age. Ideally she should be looking at her mid twenties at least to make such a decission.

Having said that my parents got married at 19 and that was 31 years ago but maybe that was the thing back then.

In my opinion i think that as soon as teens are allowed to have sex, they should be given the freedom to decide who they want to spend the rest of their life with!

Maybe so but do you not think that at that age they are not mature enough to handle the daily pressures of marriage life along with the responsibility of raising children. They are at an age where they are progressing to adults but marriage may be a step to far.

I know where I am from a person at that age would not get married in a catholic church. This is because the priests nowadays see that person as being too young and are still children in their eyes.

Marriage isn't going too far having a child is, a marriage can be annulled pretty easily but when you have a baby you're stuck with that child for the next 15-30 years.

If you want to get married at 17 and your parents agree then why does it matter what other people think?

You should go with what you think is best, and if it doesn't work out, well it doesn't work out.

I got married at 18 it is on my top three list of hugest regrets. I would advise anyone to wait no matter how great your potential spouse is.

Meh I think it's way too young to be honest, I certainly wouldn't dream of it, but hey if she's making a mistake she'll learn from it. I hope

I think it's too young. I believe that way too many people feel that they are in love. Or well, they may actually be in love, but it's usually the wrong kind of love.

And of course there is the whole part where anyone who is that age and in a relationship and planning on marrying the person they are with will defend it. Because of course they don't see themselves getting divorced.

But they do. Usually a short while later down the road.
