If you were to leave the country for political reasons where would you go?


I'd probably head to Canada, or maybe Germany. Or just say 'f it and retire on the beach somewhere cheap

Belgium probably, their political system is more of a shambles than ours but the people don't seem quite as fussed about it.

Either that or Iceland, just because it's Iceland and I want to go there anyway.

I didn't leave America for 'Political' reasons - I left because the other side of the world was the only place to find a decent woman to settle down with (like us in the USA always joked about).

Once I migrated into a Socialist situation, however, I found it was much much less Draconian and a helluva lot more laid-back...

..with exception of the old-school (1950's) work ethic. But that's mostly influenced by a small city with little work, during a recession, and foreigners taking up natural-born kiwi positions.

So for any Americans planning on relocating here, just note that back in the 50's you would have been swarmed and celebrated by all the young blonde women over here swooning over the American accent, however, in 2012 - You're all pretty much Mexican-Past-the-Border-Guard status nowadays.

Republicans would not last here with our nation wide same sex marriage, we do not care if women have abortions and we have socialized health care.

I would never leave the country for something as petty as politics, but if I had to move I suppose I would move to the UK. I only visited it for 2 weeks, but it's a lovely country from what I saw. Plus it has a lot of history. That's always a plus for me.
