So my office use to run XP. It was a good system. Our programs, which are very OS specific and touchy, seemed to be in harmony with XP after all the configurations and patches were done. Everything was operating smoothly. So naturally, a month from the release of Windows 7, the "head" IT's decided to switch us to Vista. I mean why smoothly transition to Windows 7 after it's been out a while? Why do something that makes sense? No, let's switch to the OS which everyone was complaining about having software issues with! That's sounds like an awesome idea.
Right after the switch, low and behold, the software we run had serious clashes with Vista and wouldn't run. We were left fighting over a few machines that were still running the older versions of XP.
In all of their wisdom, the IT's even switched those few remaining XP pc's to Vista as well. A complete office melt down ensued where none of our work was being completed because the computers were unusable because of the software/OS clash. Finally after a week of insanity, the IT's gave us back XP on all of the computers.
But....and it's a good but, they downloaded the original versions of XP without any of the patches and fixes that were continuous while the XP was being used. So again, our systems still didn't operate right.
Let me re-emphasize...i hate IT's
