...But I was surprised to learn about Mickey Mouse.

Referring to the petition effort to recall Wis. Governor Scott Walker, to punish him for his temerity in limiting Wisconsin government workers' unions from confiscating the pay of private workers to keep theirs at l 1/2 to 2 times that of their private counterparts--not that they keep it all. Of course, a good portion still goes to Democrat Party money laundering operations.

Strange also that union workers must show a photo ID when they vote in THEIR elections.

Anyway, getting back to the subject absurdity, is the following any more beyond belief than the preceding?:

Suspicious signatures will be noted when the Government Accountability Board reviews the petitions, but reviewers will look to see that signatures are accompanied by a Wisconsin address and are dated as having been signed during the circulation period, board elections specialist David Buerger said.

"'We will flag them, but we will not strike them without challenge,' Buerger said after being asked whether Mickey Mouse's signature would be counted. He noted that in previous recall petitions, Adolf Hitler's name was struck because the address given was in Germany, not because of the name itself.

"The board unanimously approved the board's plan for reviewing the petitions."

Hmmmmm, Buerger eh?

Yeah sure Hitler was a Democrat, nevermind the fact that it was Roosevelt (a Democrat) who helped to usher in his Hitler's ultimate defeat. Also it was Truman (another dem) that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Whitepages.com lists two Adolph Hitlers who reside in the US and numerous entries for Mick, M, and Michael Mouse, including a Mickey Mouse who lives in Milwaukee, WI.

It may sound ridiculous to you but unless there is a complaint they have to assume the name is legitimate if it is accompanied with a legitimate address.

Also stop listening to Rush, it will rot your brain.

THE POINT is they aren't checking them and people can actually understand the corruption when they hear this.

Too late, but I'm still way behind Wisconsin.

I was gonna say that. I mean, Nazi does = National Socialist Worker's Party. But point taken about Mickey Mouse.

No that was quite clearly the point TPT was trying to make.

Though his source was trying to make another point altogether. I was quoting Paine, not his source.

Now you are missing the point. There is no way they can actually go and check these. They just don't have the man power. It is absolutely feasible that Mickey Mouse signed the petition legitimately. It is also absolutely feasible that John Smith was a completely made up signature. The board does not have the man power to check more than a tiny fraction of these signatures and they decided the way that man power is best used it by checking on those signatures which have a complaint lodged against them. That is what we call reasonable and realistic.

Besides, I hate to toss out a "the other side is doing it too argument" but the right is engaging in what could be considered an even more egregious form of voter fraud in this recall effort. There have been several people bragging about how they will go out and collect signatures and then shred them to insure the Democrats do not get the necessary signatures.

I don't think either is acceptable, but one is a hell of a lot more damaging to Democracy than the other.

I get the point (someone forged a petition) you're the one missing the point. You're being obtuse in totally missing the secondary point of paine's post.

The other point you are trying to refute was tongue in cheek. It was a rhetorical devise. A joke. It wasn't a logical point you need to spend time debunking.

No the point that Roosevelt (a democrat) fought to seal Hitler's impending demise was very much a point worth making.
