And the perception that the older you get the faster time moves. It really does seem that Christmas gets here faster and faster each year. Of course it doesn't, but sheesh...it's like I blink and I'm back to putting up the tree again.

I know what you mean. It's just here before you know it, but I think that's because it's pushed in our face so early!
This month I cringe when people ask me what I'm doing for Christmas, I reply "Let's get through Thanksgiving first, then we'll think about Christmas."

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional
mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very
real sense we have two minds, one that thinks and
one that feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional
Intelligence, Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996,
page 8). This rational mind is also called the
faculty of logic and reason.

The Upanishads say that these two are opposite in
nature. Emotions appear irrational. Rationality
seems to lack emotions. Modern psychologist also
have observed it, but they are not very sure about
it:

"At the same time, reason sometimes clearly seems
to come into conflict with some desires (even
while not being in conflict with others) giving us
the impression that reason is separate from
emotion".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reason

Both of them will not be working normally at any time.
When the emotional mind works dominantly, time appears
to run faster. When the rational mind works dominantly,
to appears to run slower.
