Is it just me, or, even though gas prices are at its highest since 2008, we are seeing less of it on the news than when it peaked under Bush, less talk about it in politics and at the water cooler, less complaining, less Congressional inquiries, and just a general acceptance of it, some 10 years later, when prices first started going up? Seems to me that it is exactly what the oil companies would want. Why bring prices down if nobody cares anymore?

I may not be all that verbal about the high price but I definitely drive a lot less. I go to the post office every third day rather than daily. Go to the city for my meds once a month and that's when I buy gas, go to the hardware store and shop for things that aren't available in the town close to me.
I use a golf cart now to get around the property rather than 'El Heep'. Although when the snow hits I'll be back in my jeep again.
What's sad is I really enjoy driving my jeep.

There were a whole bunch of refinery fires in california which caused the prices to rise. I don't know much about it because I ride a bicycle

Many people changed their driving habits or switched to more fuel efficient vehicles.

When people driving tanks complain about gas prices, I feel zero pity for them.

Well duh. We are talking liberal media here in the middle of an election. And Obama did actually say he wanted higher gas prices.

C'mon, this is simply the supply/demand/competition 101 thingy over and over and over again. I know we don't have economics in most of our schools, and we make up for that with socialist indoctrination and talking points wormed in between the lines of the curriculum, but.....

Actual unemployment at 14%, the economy is in the tank, and nobody cares?

I drive a Honda Civic, and I'm still complaining. I didn't buy one to be paying $40 for a tank.

So $4.00 a gallon where you are is nothing to complain about then? That's exactly what I'm talking about. People have grown complacent about this.

I am not saying where I am from but I took the cost of what we pay for gas per liter, then converted liters to gallons since that is how you guys do your gas and we are paying right now 5.21$ a gallon.

But our gas is regulated. You guys do not have regulated gas?

It's £7.70 a gallon in the UK, what is that in real money?

Not to mention it drives up the prices of goods and services, so we all suffer.
