I think it is apsolutely crazy that the British Goverment plans to cut 900m GDP on education spending, don't you?
How frustrating! The kids and students are the country's future. Yes money is tight at the moment, but for heaven's sake cut somewhere else!!!!
It should be a legal matter that no country must be allowed to cut any funding on health or educational matters...
Where are the days where people from other countries came to Britian for a better life, these days I don't think there is a "better life" at all

Errr, source please.

Only confirmed education cuts as far as I'm aware have been announced in Northern Ireland which comes under the remit of the NI parliament not the British government. Unless I've totally missed something

As far as I've been aware the Labour party plan on cutting slowly so as not to undermine the economic recovery whilst it's the Tories who want instant across the board cuts.

Can I point out that the current Labour government has not announced any cuts in education.

On the other hand the Tories have announced a 12% cut in Education if they get elected. Essentially Education will be cut, along with healthcare, by 12% if the Conservatives get in.

I have often wondered what benefit we get as a nation for some of the degree courses that are out there.I have also thought that perhaps some courses could be quite easily reduced by a year or so without compomising the level of learning.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/universityeducation/6977031/Spending-cuts-could-force-more-than-30-universities-to-close.html

I can't find the original but I read about the proposed cuts in the Telegraph and concern was spread across other newspapers as well.

However, today I see new bits:

Cuts 'won't threaten universities'
(UKPA) ? 19 hours ago

"Business Secretary Lord Mandelson has insisted that universities will not be put under threat by multimillion-pound budget cuts"

CONFUSIon

As for your statement retep, I agree with you. If it is possible to speed up some course it sounds like a good idea, especially if it saves money and can attribute to the cuts the new government will have to make in the end. It's just a shame that these will have to be in Health and education...

Essentially a notoriously right-wing newspaper has reported on right-wing leaders of posh uni's being feart that there might be spending cuts on further education even though non of this has been confirmed.

A complete non-story based on Conservative (aka Nazi) scumbag journalism.

Seriously it is scary that this country is even considering letting those posh c***s into power.
