I've heard that sometimes if there's a known big draw, other networks will show crap because they know they won't get the viewers anyways.
primetime networks has been very weak over weekends over 20 years. walker, texas ranger era during the early 90's Saturday nights shows huge dropped off in rating, never has seen the dawn since. these days, has been success over 20 years, has been " the simpsons " and fox's animation shows on sunday. cbs was probably has been the best running up for second place in 20 years.
abc took a huge hit for putting lost's series finale on sunday with 15 millions rating. but next sunday, fox gamble with pretty good rating, comparing the low rating's of the last year of " 24 ". fox put 24 on sunday, it's series finale score 19 millions.
most primetime shows's season finale will be over by the end of april. less 10 to 15 season finales will wrap up there by 3 sunday of may. most of tv season will over by 3 Wednesday of may, because of memorial weekend. nobody watch tv.
less 5 to 6 season finales will wrap up their season in june. by the first Tuesday of june, will launch the summer tv shows.
from January to may, you will see more repeats, because of sports and awards shows, by this time, most of tv shows unless 12 to 15 episodes of the season left to air.
most of the regular tv season with 3 to 6 or possible 8 shows that has air, primetime networks will renew them or cancelled them by thanksgivings.
