Do you think that everyone should be allowed to have free healthcare. In the UK we have the NHS but as far as I am aware everywhere else has to pay for it.

Should healthcare be available free for everyone?

No such thing as free health care. You just pay the government instead of a hospital.

Even people on the dole here get it so it is free.

Even then, someone else is paying for it.

Their parents certainly do.

Healthcare is never, ever free. Doctors and nurses and pharmaceutical companies make money. They don't do anything for free.

Someone is always paying.

Their parents do though until they're old enough to, don't they?

Someone still has to pay for that service.

Find me someone in the UK who made about the same amount of money last year that I did, and I guarantee that the amount of money they paid in taxes significantly exceeds the amount that I paid in taxes + health insurance.

Ok I will rephrase the question.

Do you think the NHS is a good thing?

Nope, too expensive.

Yes but there needs to be improvements on the quality of the care, what with MRSA and other illnesses coming about due to unsanitary conditions. Plus the waiting lines are very long from what I gather, so that would need to be improved too.

No.

A government-run monopoly with a guaranteed, law-enforced revenue stream and zero competition is always worse than a competitive market with various profitable organizations competing for your money.

Quality of care is lower, plus it's more expensive.

How many threads do we see on TFS b****ing about ridiculous wait times for surgeries in the UK? How many threads do we see on TFS b****ing about woefully understaffed hospitals and offices?

Places like that in the US would go out of business because people can and do take their business to competing companies.
