I use AVG. Does everything I need, but there again I read all my mail as plain text, never open attachments, run anti spyware and use Firefox.

Norton is a resource hog. The latest news is all theirr products have a huge flaw in them at the moment in regards to .RAR files and the scanning of them.
Link

Memory usage in my system was well over 240MB idle with Norton Security suit installed. When I switched to AVG and sysgate firewall it fell to 190MB.

holy poop!

oh well, I don't need a resource hogging antivirus so long as I have DeepFreeze, that way if i get infected the system will just be back to where it was before then with a restart anyways!

kinda wish there were an antivirus that didn't have a constant scan feature and that didn't need to always be running in some way, I don't mind scanning each new file if I suspect anything

kinda defeats the purpose not having it running all the time looking for odd things on the system. However if your very careful about email and files you download, you can probably get away with scanning once a week. However I'd recommend running one all the time.

I also wouldn't count on "DeepFreeze" to keep you safe.

deepfreeze is nothing but a complete system restore program, I have it set to at startup I choose if it restores, what kind of restore, and whatnot, I can even have it wipe the disc and completely rewrite to a prior state long as I have the external backup hard drive. not really supposed to have a copy, but a friend had a reletive working at a school that had to use it, and the license was a school one, so they paid a certain amount to be able to install it on all the school systems they wanted.

I've only gotten viruses when I've spent hours on end looking for them anyways, people might be amazed at how hard it is to find a virus without turning to peer-peer networks

I don't even have an AV installed now, I haven't gotten a single infection, but I know enough not to open things like .vbs files or anything that just looks phishy
