First off, that claim in completely and totally unsubstantiated. Secondly, you clearly don't know what the word "hypocrite" means. Finally, your a mean spirited person who would rather attack someone you disagree with than have a debate with them.

Numerous American citizens were arrested in connection to supporting the Al Queta....... that's something I've heard Bush address himself, and very sad in my opion, but it is true. I'll work on finding you a link to that too, so the point is proven. In the mean time, do you mind finding us links to support your statement?

As it was the British Government that did this it made you feel like a criminal. It was awful. You would have thought that a plane load of people were being extradited when you seen the police escorting the plane down the runway. It made me very very angry.

This is what I am saying, how can you make a person feel good about our veiw on them by doing things like that? I think that it would just spur more anger towards America, and thus more terrorism!!

Thank you Molly for answering my question!

When I came to be photogaphed everytime I flew to the mainland I used to put on the gackiest of smiles. If they were able to recognise me from them they were some experts.

Yeah, but for evey Bin Ladden there are hundreds who don't fit the mold...... yeah, the odds are better, I'll give you that, but just bc someone is Muslim, or Arab, it doesn't make them a terroist..... you shouldn't speculate like that.

Unfortunately there are also literally millions of people that fit the "terrorist profile" who aren't terrorists. Profiling like this is crude, ineffective, discriminatory and inflammatory. Spreading hatred and distrust of Muslims just creates fertile soil to plant the seeds of hatred and distrust of America through the Muslim community. Just the fact that it's been discussed on national TV probably soured the opinions of many peaceful Muslims.

By all means, flag certain people who fit a profile. But for god's sake make that profile a little narrower than "all muslims" (though I suspect that this would actually become "all middle-eastern looking people" since there's no foolproof way to visually identify a person's religion).

If someone is a known activist for an extremist organisation, or has a string of previous convictions for inciting racial hatred, etc... then flag them for more thorough security checks. Of course, these people aren't stupid, and as soon as the parameters become known they won't use anyone that would trigger this extra security. Though at least that reduces the number of viable operatives.

I totally agree. Actually thats my whole point. Its not the same to say that most members of Al Qaida, Hezzbolah, etc are muslim and to say that all muslims are terrorist. That would be affirming the anticedant. I totally disagree with the "muslim only" line idea, but for different reasons than most folks on here.
