The commission found same-sex couples were discriminated against in 58 pieces

This is not particularily exciting news, with Australia's experience in such areas. It seems
John Howard doesn't really seem to justify the reasons behind holding back homosexual
rights, as he replied in office several years ago;
"I promise that as long as I am in power, same sex marriages will
not be legalised."
Now I am asking, why does the UN do
nothing.
Australia isn't the worst off country, no, not by far, but as a government, we are still
oppressing approxiamtely 9.3% of the population.
Is it not the UN's job to protect the civil rights of all peoples inside a government area
inside the treaty? Then why is nothing happening?
This has been happening for far too long, only recently a bill was brought to the houses
and passed the lower house, but upon reaching the upper house, it was passed off as "Too
much like marriage" and discarded.
Where is the time when the government would justify it's actions? Where is the time when
there was something you could DO to make the government change it's policies on such a
blatantly discriminative peice of legislation.
As usual, the Australian government will be dragged kicking and screaming through legal
acceptance, as we did with the aborigines and as we did with Women's rights.
