Anathema, Paradise Lost or My Dying Bride?

I'd be interested to see who others think is the best.

Northern as in Scandinavia?

Nope northern as in Yorkshire and Liverpool.
All early 90's stuff, PL practically invented gothic metal single handedly.

Anathema is great, I love Alternative 4

Alternative 4 is a great album, but not really Doom or Goth... was from after Anathema stopped with the whole metal thing. I probably prefer Paradise Lost to the other two, but it's really close. Anathema was opening for Porcupine Tree in Europe earlier this year, pretty bummed they didn't follow PT to the US.
