Toy lure proves too hard for a 4-year-old boy found playing in closed Texas variety store

Texas police responding to a store's burglar alarm found a less-than-hardened criminal inside: He was 4, and playing with the toys.

Detective Randy Stevens says the child apparently unlocked a door at his nearby home, got out, then crossed a street to reach the discount store.

Store surveillance video shows the unidentified boy trying one of the front doors to a Family Dollar store about 3 a.m. Monday, only to find it locked. But the second door was unlocked and the child went inside.

That triggered the silent alarm.

"When the officers got there, he was showing them his toys," said Officer Crystal Holmes.

Child Protective Services says the boy will be allowed to stay with extended relatives while they review the incident.

"His" toys. that's cute..

But where the hell were the stupid parents?

And what about the idiots who forgot to lock the door?

At 3am? Probably asleep.

I think he just wanted toys.


My son was 3 when he snuck out with his 18 month old sister.

It took 3 locks to get out the front door the house was split into 3 appartements.
Back door two locks but he used a chair went unlocked all 3 locks prob from watching me do it.

So here I am at 5am I hear my daughter crying they are not in bed but from the open window I see my kids in the mud and cold water in the basement being dug next door for a new house.

I run out and slide right in with them the is october no ice yet but close to it,I finally manage to get us out there was a wooden ramp muddy and slipery but we finally make it out.
I did not have a tub then only one shower stall all 3 of us went in cloths and all.

The neighbores were imigrants and just stared at us one even yelled out "you bad mom"
They could of helped us but nooo
