So far it does not seem to be working out very well.

"Ailes wields sweeping influence over the Republican party. The conservative media titan has spent the past several years pumping up a slate of potential 2012 presidential nominees, such as Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee, who have enjoyed lucrative salaries and priceless exposure as paid talking heads on his network."

Yet it also says his supposed candidates aren't doing that well, which would mean he DOESN'T wield sweeping influence over the Republican Party. Either he has such influence or his choices aren't being considered by the Right. Which is it? Because I can't see how it can be both.

It states that the repubs all are vetted by him. Perhaps because he has so much influence his picks are doomed to failure?
How can it not be both?

A Republican candidate could not do well without the backing of Fox.

It lists 4 people, all of which are doing badly. If his influence is as the article implies then those 4 should be at the top of the list. Yet they aren't. It doesn't speak well of his influence if we aren't interested in giving his choices the Republican candidacy.

I think you give FOX way too much credit. Surely you know the vast majority of Republicans don't swallow everything FOX says wholesale.

I don't think I do. There are no other major news outlets that really tolerate the retarded anti-reality that seems to be the core of the modern Republican platform.

The conservative base doesn't swallow everything Fox says wholesale, but Fox is pretty much the only place their crazy gets portrayed positively.

Influence and born out facts are two totally different things. They don't cancel each other out.
